Growing up, I became fascinated by astrology. What started off as my parents’ comedic attempts to protect me from the fate of being a “stubborn Scorpio,” evolved into a passion I couldn’t help but dive into. At the age of 10 you could find me looking up facts about my Sun sign on AskJeeves, and then diving into my natal chart once I discovered that there was so much more to me than having a Scorpio Sun sign. Studying my chart helped me feel seen and understood after years of feeling too intense for words. Then, I started looking up my family and friends’ charts, and became further astonished at how many layers existed in astrology. I started to understand some of the behavioral patterns I had noticed in those closest to me, but that I did not previously know how to articulate.

By the time I started college at the University of Southern California in 2010, I knew quite a bit about the field of astrology, but I was still mainly keeping it to myself and sharing my love for it with close friends (big Scorpio energy). Everything changed in July 2011, when I created a Twitter page, @ScorpioMystique, which served as a digital diary for me to express my Scorpio musings. My words attracted thousands and eventually tens of thousands of fellow Scorpios and Scorpio-lovers who could relate to what I was tweeting. This included October 25 Scorpio Katy Perry, who followed my Twitter account in 2013, around the same time I had branched out to Instagram and created KnowTheZodiac, an astrology platform for all twelve zodiac signs. I couldn’t keep the magic only for Scorpios — all signs deserve access to deeper self-knowledge and accurate astrological insights. Knowing oneself is essential to co-creating our ideal world.

While studying French, Narrative Studies, and Songwriting at USC, I was simultaneously tweeting my astro heart away and starting to offer birth chart readings and transit forecasts on my website. I now write daily, monthly and weekly horoscopes for KnowTheZodiac, ScorpioMystique, and my 12 sign-specific pages: @knowaries, @knowtaurus, @knowgemini, @knowcancers, @knowleo, @knowvirgo, @knowlibra, @scorpiomystique, @knowsagittarius, @knowcapricorn, @knowaquarius, @knowpisces. My team of astrologers consist of Nisha, Gala, and Alex, and together we help spread awareness about what’s going on cosmically, and how it influences us individually and globally.

In the past few years, my cumulative audience of astro enthusiasts has grown to around 1 million people on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram combined. Ever since graduating with my Master's degree in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, I focused on entrepreneurship and kept growing my astrology business. My clients include Black Girl In Om, Refinery29, Columbia University, General Assembly, Viacom Networks, New York University, and CNBC New York.

My horoscopes have been shared by Drake, Miguel, Jaylen Brown and Ella Mai and I have been featured in Essence, Refinery29, WWD, TeenVogue, PopSugar, Bumble, Cosmopolitan, and more. While all of these milestones are gratifying, what truly makes KnowTheZodiac and ScorpioMystique so special are the community members who regularly engage with my work and feel aligned with my astrological insights. It’s been over six years since I started offering yearly KTZ Astrology Workshop tours in cities ranging from New York and Los Angeles to Paris and Accra. Being able to interact with my community in-person took my love for astrology to the next level. My readers’ loyalty is unparalleled, and it’s what motivates me to keep writing these horoscopes for myself and my fellow skymates. My personal healing journey has become a collective one. We are all stardust in awe of itself, and we are in a period of profound awakening.

In October 2019, I launched the KnowTheZodiac app, which is the only astrology app available on iOS and Android (that I am aware of) that’s run by a team of all Black astrologers. Astrology, like most forms of spirituality and divinity, began in the Motherland. I’ve noticed a shift as more people are acknowledging that Africa is the source of humanity and understand that astrology derived from ancient African cultures before spreading to other regions of the world. Just like an eclipse, my work brings to light what was once hidden, and serves to reconnect humanity with its indigenous roots. As an African woman astrologer, I’ve learned to allow myself to be seen, and not hide behind my words. I have become an embodiment of my own chart, while encouraging others to do the same. ScorpioMystique and KnowTheZodiac are more than brands — they're a lifestyle. I invite you to explore this cosmic field with me.

I’m privileged to be able to know where I come from and to still have direct connections in West Africa. I extend that privilege to my fellow brothers and sisters of the diaspora, and on the African continent, by providing access to the Motherland through immersion experiences that awaken them to the beauty, richness and culture of West Africa. Via Magic & Melanin, descendants of Africa can reconnect with their roots through rediscovering part of their heritage.

My intention is for humans of the diaspora to keep close ties to the Motherland in whatever way possible, and to help us all celebrate our royal roots. I moved to West Africa with my family in 2018, and I now reside here while welcoming our diaspora family to also partake in this magical experience.
